Everything in a gym is touched by bare skin, usually sweating, usually within minutes of the last person. That makes it the setting where correct disinfection matters most and where wipe dispensers give the most false comfort. A member spraying a bench for three seconds has done almost nothing that the label would recognise.
The second issue is odour, and it is always the same three sources: mats, upholstery seams and shower grout. Deodorising the air is a temporary fix that members can smell straight through. The permanent fix is treating the material.
Both problems are solved by a rotation with dates on it rather than by working harder on the visible surfaces, which is what most gym cleaning programs actually consist of.
